Command Reopen

Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 4, 2026

Command Reopen is designed to keep app activity local to your Mac. This privacy policy explains what is processed locally, what is shared with third parties for billing and analytics, and what is not collected by us.

App Data Processing

Command Reopen processes app-switching and window state information locally on your device. This is used only to decide when to reopen a window after you switch apps with Command-Tab.

The app may also store local settings such as whether automatic reopen is enabled, your excluded app list, local reopen statistics, onboarding state, and local purchase or trial display state. This data stays on your Mac unless you delete the app or reset its container.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not run our own backend for Command Reopen and we do not collect personal data for advertising or profiling. The app does not:

  • Upload your reopen history or excluded-app list to our servers
  • Read the contents of your files, messages, or browser activity
  • Request Accessibility or Screen Recording permission
  • Use advertising SDKs or data brokers

How the App Works

Command Reopen uses only official macOS APIs (NSWorkspace and CoreGraphics) to detect when you switch applications and restore minimized windows. All processing happens locally on your device.

Purchases and Subscriptions

If you use the Mac App Store version, purchases, subscriptions, renewals, restores, and billing are handled by Apple. We use RevenueCat to receive entitlement status needed to determine whether Pro access is active.

Payment information is processed by Apple, not by us. RevenueCat receives purchase status data necessary to provide purchase restoration and entitlement syncing. Their handling of data is governed by their own policies.

Website Analytics

This website uses PostHog for privacy-conscious analytics. We use it to understand aggregate page visits and on-site conversion events, such as clicks on App Store links. We do not use this data for advertising.

Third-Party Services

Depending on how you access Command Reopen, the following third-party services may process limited data:

  • Apple App Store / StoreKit for payments, renewals, cancellations, and refunds
  • RevenueCat for entitlement and purchase restoration status
  • PostHog for website analytics on commandreopen.com

Open Source

Command Reopen is open source software licensed under MIT. You can inspect the complete source code on GitHub to verify our privacy claims.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The latest version will always be published on this page.
